The MC200CM is a media converter that translates 1000BASE-SX fiber to 1000Base-T copper or vice versa. Designed according to IEEE802.3ab 1000Base-T and IEEE802.3z 1000Base-SX, the MC200CM can be used with multimode fiber via the SC-type connector. The MC200CM supports short-wavelength (SX) lasers for full data rate forwarding. The wavelength for both transmission and reception is 850 nm.

Other features of the module allow it to be used as a stand-alone device (no housing required) or in conjunction with TP-LINK's 19’’ rack. Additionally, it includes Auto-MDI/MDI-X on the TX port, automatic duplex mode negotiation on the TX port, and front LEDs. The MC200CM transmits data over multimode fiber up to 0.5 km in length.
