The new Tokina AT-X 11-20 PRO DX is an evolution of the previous wide-angle zoom Tokina AT-X 11-16 PRO DX-II, featuring an extended focal length range. It covers a very interesting range of 16 to 30 mm, equivalent to full-frame. The lens is set to be released at the end of this month with Canon and Nikon mounts.
The new Tokina AT-X 11-20 PRO DX is a wide-angle zoom that offers a highly versatile focal length range. It is particularly useful in landscape and documentary photography, especially when seamlessly paired with a standard or telephoto zoom.
In terms of construction, it is based on the proven Tokina AT-X 11-16 PRO DX-II. However, the new lens has been improved not only in terms of focal length range but also in optical performance. To optimize contrast and sharpness while correcting spherical aberrations within its compact dimensions, three aspherical lenses have been integrated: two ground and one P-MO hybrid lens. Additionally, three SD glasses with particularly low dispersion are used to correct chromatic aberrations.
