Product details
The IMU Brick 2.0 is the successor to the IMU Brick and offers higher resolution sensors, easier calibration, additional continuous self-calibration, and an accuracy that is two orders of magnitude better. It is equipped with a 3-axis accelerometer, a magnetic field sensor (compass), and a gyroscope, functioning as a USB inertial sensor. This device can measure 9 degrees of freedom and calculates quaternions as well as independent yaw, roll, and pitch angles. It is a complete Attitude and Heading Reference System. The API, available for many programming languages, allows access to the calculated data as well as acceleration, magnetic field, and angular velocities for the three axes. When using the quaternion representation, the IMU Brick is gimbal lock-free (unlike the Euler angle representation). Through two ports, Bricklets can be connected to extend the capabilities of the Brick. For example, a GPS Bricklet can be connected to obtain position data. The IMU Brick 2.0 can also be used with other Bricks in a stack. An additional Master Brick with Master Extensions can be used to replace the USB connection with other wired interfaces (RS485, Ethernet) or wireless interfaces (Wi-Fi).
To test the IMU Brick 2.0, Brick Daemon and Brick Viewer must first be installed. Brick Daemon acts as a proxy between the USB interface of the Bricks and the API bindings. Brick Viewer can connect to Brick Daemon, provides information about the connected Bricks and Bricklets, and allows for their testing. When the Brick is connected to the PC via USB, a new tab named IMU Brick 2.0 should shortly appear in Brick Viewer. Select this tab to view all available data from the IMU Brick 2.0.
