Tinkerforge HAT Brick
Product details
The HAT Brick is a Raspberry Pi HAT in the standard HAT form factor. The Brick is compliant to the HAT specification and works automatically with Raspbian without any changes. The HAT Brick can be used to connect up to eight Bricklets to a Raspberry Pi. The HAT Brick has 7-pin Bricklet connectors. Via a 7-pin . 7-pin cable Bricklets can be connected to the Brick. Only Bricklets that have a 7-pin connector are supported. The Raspberry Pi can be powered by an external 5V-28V DC power supply via the HAT Brick. The integrated power supply provides stable 5V for the Raspberry Pi even under heavy load. Thus connected Bricklets and connected USB devices can be powered as well. The HAT Brick provides a slightly higher voltage of 5.3V for this purpose. Alternatively the HAT Brick and the Raspberry Pi can also be powered via Micro-USB. In this case, however, you have to make sure that the power supply provides a stable 5V. This is possible for example with the official Raspberry Pi universal power supply. The USB/DC supply voltages are measured by the HAT and are accessible via the API. The HAT Brick provides a real-time clock with battery backup that is directly connected to the Raspberry Pi. This can be used to turn off the Raspberry Pi for a specified time. Thus, the Raspberry Pi can also be used in battery-powered applications, for example in an application where sensor information should be sent to the cloud every hour. The HAT Brick can be used to implement a watchdog that restarts the Raspberry Pi if it hangs or its own program gets stuck. The HAT Brick is electronically compatible to the Raspberry Pis 2B, 3B, 3B+, 4B, Zero and Zero W. The mounting holes are compatible to the Raspberry Pi 2/3/4.
