Product details

With the GPS Bricklet 2.0, Bricks can determine their position via GPS. It is also possible to obtain motion data (direction and speed), altitude information (height and geodetic separation), as well as highly accurate time and date information with a PPS signal. Current values for elevation, azimuth, and SNR can be read for each GPS and GLONASS satellite. The GPS module used is optimized for a very short time to first fix, has high sensitivity (-165 dBm), and provides data at a 10 Hz update frequency, which is fast enough for drones or similar applications. An internal interference suppression improves reception when Bluetooth or Wi-Fi devices are nearby. A 25 mm x 25 mm active patch antenna with high gain is permanently attached to the underside and connected to the GPS module via a U.FL connector. The connection can be detached to connect another external antenna. A CR1025 coin cell battery is included with the Bricklet. The battery is used to store position information when power is lost. With the stored information, a fix can be restored more quickly when power is available again. The GPS Bricklet 2.0 has a 7-pin Bricklet connector and is connected to a Brick using a 7p-10p Bricklet cable.
