The LDC1614 evaluation module for inductance/digital converters with example PCB coils from Texas Instruments demonstrates the use of inductive sensing technology to detect and measure the presence, position, or composition of a conductive target object. The LDC1614 chip is a 4-channel, 28-bit inductance/digital converter with I²C for inductive sensing. The module includes two example PCB sensor coils connected to the four channels of the LDC1614. An MSP430 microcontroller is used to connect the inductance/digital converter to a host computer. Multiple board perforations provide maximum evaluation and system design flexibility. Example sensor coils for the various channels are included. Operation is conducted via a computer. A supplied graphical user interface (GUI) allows for quick concept demonstration and data collection. The evaluation module accelerates the prototyping of end applications.
