The Thermal Grizzly Intel High Performance Heatspreader V1 in detail: The Intel High Performance Heatspreader V1 is an upgrade heat spreader for the 12th, 13th, and 14th generation of Intel CPUs. The nickel-plated copper heat spreader features a 207% larger, diamond-milled precision surface. This enlarged surface compared to the original heat spreader allows for maximum heat dissipation with air and water coolers, while the precision milling ensures an extremely low surface roughness for optimal contact with the cooler.
The nickel-plated surface of the Intel High Performance Heatspreader V1 is compatible with traditional thermal pastes and gallium-based liquid metals. The nickel forms a barrier layer between the liquid metal and the copper cooler, preventing the liquid metal from diffusing into the copper and minimizing alloy formation. As a result, reapplying liquid metal is usually not necessary.
