Thanks to the lightweight capsule and the super-thin yet remarkably robust capsule diaphragm, the M80 allows for excellent sound transmission, particularly for vocal performances, which is typically only expected from studio condenser microphones.

The microphone head and capsule design have been engineered to reduce the proximity effect, which can unnaturally boost the low frequencies in vocal recordings. Nevertheless, the microphone delivers a solid and well-defined bass response while remaining very open and airy, without producing unwanted feedback in the upper midrange.
