Product details
The technologies developed through the SL-1200 series and the high-end SL-1000R model are richly integrated into the turntable's driving unit, an essential part of the player. The motor coordinates the wireless instant motor with few rotors, taken from the SL-1200GR, to achieve high rotational accuracy and read the precise signals of the recording. Optimal motor control is implemented for the stability of the two layer plates, on which the vinyl record is placed with damping rubber across the entire surface of the back, eliminating unwanted resonance in the aluminum die-cast plate and thus preventing irregular rotations, also known as cogging. The aluminum die-cast chassis is firmly integrated into a special material consistency of ABS mixed with fiberglass optics to create a dual-layer construction. The isolator consists of a spring and rubber to ensure optimal, characteristic vibration damping. The tonearm features a universal S-shape with static balance, a tradition of the technology. By adopting high precision using the same gimbal suspension design as the SL-1200 series, high initial sensitivity is achieved. Furthermore, reliability has been enhanced through the integration of a detachable power cable and gold-plated connections, which cause less sound quality loss for phono and line connections.

Top workmanship. Very solidly built. Sounded a little dull in the listening test with pop and some jazz. Manually operated, but the tonearm lifts automatically at the end of the disc. Direct drive. Easy handling when playing records. Also plays shellac discs. Expensive.

- High-torque direct drive
- robust build quality
- built-in phono stage
A solid and very well-equipped turntable that is worthy of the great Technics turntable tradition.

The SL-1500C is comprehensively equipped as a complete package and is also suitable for vinyl beginners thanks to its simple handling. The integrated MM preamp and the Ortofon 2M Red deliver excellent results, while the turntable and tonearm offer the potential for upgrades with external equalisation and a higher-quality cartridge...
- Fully equipped all-round carefree package with vibrant sound
- somewhat difficult tonearm height adjustment
My scepticism gave way to respect: even metrologically clean, reputable direct drives can be built today for less than 1000 euros. The Technics SL-1500C also convinces as an overall concept. Even with the built-in preamp it sounds really good, with a better pickup and a good phono stage it goes far beyond its price range. That's what I call an analogue all-round carefree package.
