A powerful image quality and effective minimization of aberrations even at wide open aperture thanks to the use of special glass elements. The SP 45mm F/1.8 Di VC USD features an optical construction of ten elements in eight groups, including two molded aspherical glass elements and one low dispersion (LD) element.

The two molded aspherical glass elements ensure top-notch sharpness performance across the entire image area by eliminating spherical and chromatic aberrations. Additionally, the aspheres prevent unwanted stray light in night shots. This particularly reduces the halo effect in the corners of the image, where overexposure occurs around point light sources. To further correct chromatic aberrations, low-dispersion (LD) elements are incorporated. These special lenses promote sharp, brilliant images without color fringing.

Class-leading minimum focusing distance of just 29 cm.

The SP 45mm offers the shortest minimum focusing distance in this lens class. A floating element ensures high imaging quality for close-up shots, as individual elements are moved in relation to the focusing unit.

Practically no corner shading.

Both SP lenses provide an even bright image across the entire frame. Photographers can compose their shots without worrying about the typical light fall-off at the edges of images (vignetting) that often occurs with fast lenses.

Splash-proof protection for demanding outdoor shoots.

The lens barrels are carefully sealed to protect the technology inside from penetrating moisture. Even under adverse conditions, outdoor photographers can continue working effortlessly with the new SP series.
