A differential compensates for the speed difference of the wheels in a curve. In a ball differential, this is achieved through metal balls that are enclosed between two pressure plates. Thus, even if one wheel has left the ground, the power is transferred to the wheel that remains on the ground through friction. The ball differential therefore provides more traction for your model.
