Tamiya 4-Speed High-Power Gearbox Kit

The Tamiya 72007 4-Speed High-Performance Gearbox with 4 gears includes a brushed DC motor and all the gears and parts needed to build one of the four possible gear ratio configurations: 39.6:1, 47.6:1, 61.7:1, 74:1. The four gear ratio options provide you with the flexibility to achieve the best speed and torque for your project.

The kit includes an illustrated step-by-step guide in Japanese and English. A scanned copy of the instructions is available on the images tab. The kit can be assembled with just a screwdriver, but the instructions recommend having side cutters, pliers, and a modeling knife on hand.

This gearbox features a round output shaft with a diameter of 4 mm, which is compatible with wheels that use Tamiya 4 mm round shafts. The low-voltage motor in this gearbox operates at 1.5-4.5 volts and draws up to a couple of amps when stalled, making it compatible with, for example, DRV8833 motor driver boards, provided that appropriate measures are taken to prevent motor stalling.
