The Toyota Celica GT-Four RC was developed as a homologation vehicle for participation in global rally races, with 5,000 units sold worldwide in 1992. This car, with its sleek and powerful body, featured a 2-liter turbo engine with metal turbines and a water-based intercooler system, delivering 235 horsepower. The 4WD system utilized a central viscous coupling and a Torsen differential at the rear for excellent controllability and traction. In global rally racing in 1993, the Celica GT-Four brought Toyota (ST185) its first manufacturer and driver championships. The TAMIYA model is based on the proven 1:10 TT-02 chassis. This chassis allows for multiple adjustments of wheelbase, ground clearance, track width, and gear ratio, and with countless optional tuning parts, it can be quickly upgraded to a racer. The 4WD drive with a central shaft, double wishbones, and shock absorbers on all four wheels ensures a realistic driving experience and optimal traction. The chassis underside is designed to be extra smooth, and the battery compartment accommodates all common battery types.
