The first model on the Tamiya XV-01 belt chassis is the Subaru Impreza WRX STI, which was raced by the Subaru Arai team in 2011. The front motor, a sealed 4WD belt drive, and large mud flaps in the wheel arches make the chassis a rally powerhouse. Double wishbones and oil-filled shock absorbers ensure excellent handling both on and off-road. Ball bearings reduce friction and increase top speed as well as driving time.

Additional information about the original: Led by Toshihiro Arai, the winner of the Production Car World Rally Championship (PWRC) seasons in 2005 and 2007, Team Arai entered the Impreza in the 2011 Intercontinental Rally Challenge (IRC) series. The team also competed in the Hokkaido Rally in the Asia-Pacific Rally Championship (APRC) in 2011, where the car impressively took the victory.
