Frey Holland is mysteriously transported from New York City to the stunning land of Athia and finds herself trapped there. A magical sentient bracelet is inexplicably wrapped around her arm, and Frey discovers the ability to cast powerful spells and use magic to traverse the vast landscapes of Athia. Frey names her new golden companion Cuff and sets out to find a way home.

Frey soon learns that this beautiful land once flourished under the rule of benevolent matriarchs called Tantas, until a devastating plague mercilessly corrupted everything they touched.

The rupture turned animals into beasts, humans into monsters and rich landscapes into four dangerous realms. At the centre of their destroyed realms, the Tantas now rule as mad and evil sorceresses. Unfazed by the rupture and desperate for answers, Frey reluctantly agrees to help the last remaining citizens of Athia, who see in her their only hope.
