The Idea

What if we didn't throw away pencil stubs, but instead planted them and enjoyed watching something delicious and beautiful grow? We asked ourselves this very question and invented Sprout. We are excited to present the first growing pencil!

Material

How It Works

Getting seeds to germinate and nurturing a large, beautiful plant is not easy. It requires active care and attention for fresh herbs to grow from the pencil. The Sprout pencil contains organic seeds. Did you know that the Sprout pencil contains no lead? Therefore, planting or eating the herbs that grow from the pencil is completely risk-free.

Planting

Sprout is a high-quality pencil made from cedar wood. At the end of the pencil, there is a water-activated seed capsule. When exposed to moisture, the capsule breaks down, and the seed begins to germinate.

Growth

Water your Sprout regularly and ensure it gets plenty of sunlight. The pencil needs direct sunlight to germinate and grow. Expect 2-3 weeks for the pencil to germinate, and 4-5 weeks before you can use your fresh herbs for cooking.

About Sprout

The pencil is made from sustainably sourced cedar wood. It contains no lead, only graphite and clay. After writing and planting, a small pencil stub remains. While it is non-toxic, it is still there.
