Product details

The Big Easy Driver from SparkFun is a highly advanced driver board specifically designed for bipolar stepper motors. With a maximum current of 2A per phase, this board allows for precise control and offers a wide range of applications in robotics and automation technology. The driver is based on the Allegro A4988 IC and supports chopper microstepping, which operates in the 16-step microstepping mode by default. With a maximum operating voltage of 35V and integrated voltage regulation for 5V/3.3V, the Big Easy Driver is extremely versatile and requires only a single power supply. Although the board can typically operate without active cooling, a heatsink is recommended for higher loads to optimize performance. This product is the result of a collaboration with Brian Schmalz, with a portion of the proceeds used to support product development.

  • Bipolar microstepping driver for stepper motors up to 2A/phase
  • Maximum motor operating voltage of 35V
  • Integrated voltage regulation for 5V/3.3V
  • Operates in 16-step microstepping mode by default.
