Sony

A compact lens adapter in an elegant, cylindrical format that allows users of A-mount lenses to benefit from the outstanding AF performance of E-mount camera bodies.

With this adapter, A-mount lenses with SSM (Super Sonic wave Motor) and SAM (Smooth Autofocus Motor) can be used with E-mount cameras to utilise large-area AF2 phase detection at the focal plane including subject recognition such as real-time eye AF (people and animals), real-time tracking and more. For information on compatible bodies and lenses, see compatibility section.

If the adapter is used with the E-mount bodies, the AF/AE tracking3 performance of the cameras can also be used with A-mount SSM and SAM lenses, even when shooting continuously at up to 11 fps4. For information on compatible bodies and lenses, see the compatibility section.

The LA-EA5 supports all A-mount lenses5, including models without internal motors such as Sonnar T 135 mm F1.8 ZA and Planar T 85 mm F1.4 ZA. AF phase detection on the focal plane, AF with eye detection in real time (people and animals), real-time tracking and AF/AE series tracking3 are fully supported at up to 11 fps4. For information on compatible bodies and lenses, see compatibility section.

The slim, high-performance cylindrical lens adapter incorporates advanced compact AF and iris driver units. The diameter corresponds to A-mount, so that nothing protrudes when used with E-mount housings - for comfortable holding and operation even when using a vertical grip.

Compatible with Sony A7 III.

Bayonet lens mount

A lens mount is an interface — mechanical and often also electrical — between a photographic camera body and a lens. It is confined to cameras where the body allows interchangeable lenses, most usually the single lens reflex type or any movie camera of 16 mm or higher gauge. Lens mounts are also used to connect optical components in instrumentation that may not involve a camera, such as the modular components used in optical laboratory prototyping which join via C-mount or T-mount elements.
