The zoom lens SIGMA 50-100mm F1.8 DC HSM | Art in the medium telephoto range with a large F1.8 aperture over the entire focal length range convinces with the image quality of a fixed focal length lens.

We have taken on the task of developing a zoom lens that offers the light intensity and resolution of a fixed focal length lens. In other words: maximum optical performance and expressiveness. We have achieved our first success with the SIGMA 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM | Art. This lens not only met our high requirements of the Art product line, but was also the world's first APS-C zoom lens with a constant F1.8 aperture over the entire focal length range.

We built on this concept and now present the SIGMA 50-100mm F1.8 DC HSM | Art, a telephoto zoom lens in the medium range with a large diameter. This new lens offers more light than an F2.8 telephoto lens and, thanks to its zoom functionality, covers the focal lengths of three classic fixed focal lengths: 85mm F1.8, 105mm F1.8 and 135mm F1.8 (35mm equivalent focal length ranges). The lens sets new standards for the image quality of zoom lenses and is ideal for portraits due to its fine bokehs.

Reflections and ghost elimination design :
From the very beginning of the lens's construction, we placed great emphasis on examining its susceptibility to reflections and ghosting in order to achieve an optical design that is resistant even to strong backlighting.

Redesigned Hyper Sonic engine :
The Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) has been further developed to provide excellent image quality and an open aperture of F1.8. We optimized the layout and shape of the individual components so that the HSM is now 30% smaller. The slimmer format of the HSM is an important prerequisite for the development of a zoom lens that combines a light intensity of F1.8 with high image quality.
