The use of a double-sided aspherical lens minimizes spherical aberration, astigmatism, and coma. The coma from point light sources is reduced almost to the image edge. When using large apertures, an attractive, soft bokeh is created.

The lens features a rear focusing system that prevents focus-dependent imaging errors, ensuring very high image quality across the entire field of view. The constant length of the lens also improves balance and stability while shooting. Additionally, since the front lens element does not rotate, polarizing filters can be easily used.
