Mechanically, the Sigma zoom is of higher quality, optically Canon is slightly ahead. To be fair, it must be mentioned that the camera's internal correction of distortion and vignetting helps a lot, especially with Canon's RF 2.8/28-70 mm IS STM. Incidentally, the classic 2.8/24-70 mm zooms from both manufacturers perform slightly better.
Sigma continues to surprise with exceptional lens solutions that are also practical and powerful. The new zoom lens impresses with its very high image quality combined with extended creative freedom thanks to the larger telephoto range.
With a weight of just under one kilogramme, the 28-105 mm is surprisingly handy for such a large focal length range and easily suitable for setting off on extensive photo tours. In the lab test, the resolution was at a high level - even if not quite at the level of high-resolution fixed focal lengths...
