This customized version of the Raspberry Pi 3 features a U.FL antenna socket. This allows the onboard Wi-Fi to be used with a stronger or external Wi-Fi antenna. This is particularly necessary when the Raspberry Pi 3 is to be used in a metal enclosure.
Please note that the onboard chip antenna will be non-functional as the signal path is routed to the U.FL antenna socket.
