Product details

Lens for the highest demands. The Samyang MF 14mm F2.8 MK2 is an evolution of the popular Samyang MF 14mm F2.8 lens, designed to meet the highest expectations of manual photography enthusiasts. The second generation of this lens brings several innovations.

New: Focus Lock and De-Click. With Focus Lock, long exposures and time lapses become a breeze: thanks to a separate ring, you can now lock your chosen focus. This means you can handle the camera without losing or accidentally adjusting the selected focus. This feature is particularly useful for astrophotography (astro-landscape and widefield). For long exposures, which often require multiple shots in succession for later stacking, a reliably set focus is essential. The function is also beneficial for time lapses, where the camera may be aimed at the same subject for one or two days. With the De-Click function, you can eliminate the click stops of the aperture steps. The aperture can then be adjusted smoothly, allowing for precise fine-tuning and making it very useful for filmmaking. Simply turn the silver ring of the lens to "Click" or "Free," depending on your needs.

New aperture, new design, and weather protection. The aperture in this second-generation lens features 9 rounded blades instead of the previous 6. This facilitates the creation of round highlights in the bokeh. Additionally, starbursts, which occur when the aperture is slightly open and a light source is in focus, now have 18 rays instead of 12. The exterior of the lens has also been redesigned. The controls are textured and shaped to be dirt-repellent. This lens now also includes weather protection at the mount, safeguarding the interior from moisture and raindrops.

Measured against Sony mirrorless, 43 MP, KB: In the case of a super-wide-angle lens, we don't expect perfect imaging all the way to the edges at open aperture. But in the centre of the image, the performance must fit. But this is exactly what the Samyang does not achieve: the resolution and especially the contrast are clearly too low in the centre at aperture 2.8...
