The Samyang AF 35mm F1.8 is part of Samyang's popular small but fine series for Sony's full-frame E-mount (FE). It offers outstanding image quality from corner to corner even at f/1.8 aperture. With its silent autofocus and precise continuous focussing, it is a good choice for both photography and videography. The optical structure of the lens consists of ten elements in eight groups. Two aspherical lenses and two hybrid aspherical lenses minimise spherical aberrations and distortions to achieve the best possible image quality. The nine-blade diaphragm ensures a creamy, round bokeh and helps to create a marvellous depth of field. The lens is weatherproof so that it can also be used in difficult conditions. There is a customisable switch on the side of the lens to which the user can assign various functions. The functions can be easily changed or added using the Samyang Lens Station docking station.

Measured against Sony mirrorless, 43 MP, KB: With the fast moderate wide-angle lens for 400 euros, the world looks very different. Open, the resolution could be higher, but it's ok, the contrast fits. With regard to the edge fall-off, there is only very slight criticism to be made of the contrast...
The Samyang AF 35mm F1.8 FE shows very good imaging properties and has an excellent price-performance ratio. Its silent and fast autofocus system is helpful for both photography and filming. All in all, Samyang presents a highly interesting solution.
