Rollei consistently realises the original idea of a flash unit that can also be used as a film light (or vice versa). The HS Freeze 01 is well made and attractively priced, but could be upgraded with a diffuser and a USB charger included in the scope of delivery.
The concept of combining flash and continuous light in one compact device is tempting, but comes with compromises. The HS Freeze Q1 does not achieve the performance of dedicated flashes with xenon tubes or larger LED lights. However, thanks to radio control, the Q1 can also be used as a supplement to a full-blown flash.
