Category 6 augmented (Cat 6A) is a standard that arises from the increased bandwidth requirements of 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10 GBASE-T). Cat 6A cables are designed for transmission frequencies up to 500 MHz and distances up to 100 m, and are backward compatible with existing categories. Halogen-free sheath. Unlike conventional PVC cables, these cables are halogen-free: the dangerous release of halogen-containing combustion gases is thus excluded and smoke generation is minimized.
