With the first reflecta medium format scanner, it is now possible to scan not only 35 mm but also 120/220 mm, 6x4.5, 6x6, 6x7, 6x8, 6x9, and 6x12 (both positive and negative). The use of a 3-line CCD sensor with the Magic-Touch function (automatic dust and scratch removal using an infrared sensor) ensures excellent image quality.

Der Scanner leistet ganze Arbeit und besitzt eine extrem hohe Auflösung. Somit kommt das Gerät teilweise an eine Pixeldichte von 3.200 ppi und das ist mehr als beachtlich. Auch die Farb- und Kontrastdarstellung sind sehr gut, wobei ohne entsprechende Software das Ergebnis deutlich mäßiger ausgefallen wäre. Deshalb gemeinsam mit Silverfast nutzen.
Als echte Alternative zu früheren Filmscannern von Minolta oder Nikon, fehlt es dem Reflecta an entsprechendem Dynamikumfang. Mit einem Preis von etwa 1500 Euro weckt der Scanner hohe Erwartungen, die er aber nur zum Teil umsetzen kann, wobei der Software einige Funktionalitäten für hohe Professionalität fehlen.
