It's crazy that this 18TB enterprise drive is going cheaper than some 12TB hdds, so it is a great buy.
The hard drive comes delivered in a good, cushioned package (none of the "free-flying HDDs in Amazon boxes" horror stories you see posted online ).
Read is a consistent 270MB/s, and write speeds via USB (from a SSD) are a consistent 265MB/s, so pretty impressive!
Only just started using the drive, so can't comment on reliability, but it does have the enterprise 5yr warranty and advertised 2.5M hours MTBF, so should do well (just remember to always have your 3-2-1 backup rule and nothing to worry about).
The hardest thing was to stop myself buying more HDDs.
Edit: Found out that this drive is a OEM drive, so Seagate themselves do not provide any warranty. The warranty is only provided by Digitech Galaxus.

I already had 2 defective ones (out of 4). One of them gave off a high-pitched whistling sound, which the others did not (this one was the first to go out). Either I was extremely unlucky with these things, or there is a quality problem. Running in a 4 slot bay.

The hard drive is louder than a WD RED, for example.
Especially writing to the hard drive makes noise. So I wouldn't recommend it for data storage in the same room where people work.
I use it as a media NAS. Works perfectly.

I use this drive exclusively to archive hundreds of films, but I can't say whether it's suitable for continuous operation like a WD Red Plus, for example, and I haven't tested it. Films run smoothly with it, of course.

Received an OEM product from Galaxus for the first time. So unfortunately no 5-year warranty directly from Seagate. You can get such discs much cheaper elsewhere. Will unfortunately be returned.
The dispatch is much faster than expected and so far everything is top, as I know it from Galaxus.
Which is why I have already ordered goods worth several thousand euros here.
But this HDD is a really bad deal, because I get an HDD that is "recertified".
This is not mentioned in any way in the item description (I think that you should be clearly made aware of such used goods rubbish, other shops can do that too), because I don't want something like that and apart from that, these are already offered for just under half the purchase price (from 150 euros) and then even the "only" just under 268 euros or regularly just under 336 euros are clearly too much and a rip-off.
A check of the serial number has already failed, as there is apparently NO warranty via Seagate for such products (there will be a reason for this).
Only through the dealer... allegedly.
The sticker already foreshadowed bad things with the identification "ST18000NM000J-Rec. (Rec. then probably stands for Recertified)
Sorry, this is the bottom drawer and the first and last time this will happen to me at Galaxus!
I am currently considering returning this product immediately, as it does NOT correspond to the description, is not new and is therefore completely overpriced or whether I should install it first.
Unfortunately, I need this disc extremely urgently because I have no more space for my video recordings and have to deliver content on my YouTube channel every day.
With such recertified discs, which may have been running for hundreds of hours, all the data has been manipulated and reset anyway, so reading out the data is useless and the data is faked.
For me, that's a scam and that's why I don't want such rubbish, quite simply.
I've been looking for a cheap disc for a long time that isn't "recertified", it's a shame that this one works like this.
I also don't reset the speedometer on a car just to get rid of it as a recertified car or something.
Sorry, an absolute no-go for me!
Definitely my last purchase here at Galaxus, sorry.
