Top office and home office headset

If you are looking for a home or office headset, the Poly Voyager Focus 2 headset is the one for you. It has great sound, is ready to use straight away and doesn't need to be charged at the beginning. I really appreciate the fact that the ears don't sweat, which only works because the headset is ON-ear and not over-ear. What I don't like at all is the ANC - there is always a background noise that is annoying and the ear pads are also quickly used up. When they are used up, you find black spots on your ears. But you have to be honest, changing them is easy and buying new ear pads is no problem. What annoys me the most is if you lose the dongle from the headset, then you pay 80Fr just for the replacement dongle, what's the point then of course I buy a new headset and that's supposed to be sustainable. But of course everything is designed to make as much profit as possible.

Confortable, great sound and microphone, inexistant ANC

Make sure you install Poly Lens and update the dongle and headset firmware before anything. It removed a small delay that was noticeable when testing the microphone recording with a camera. There are options to set in the software for ease of use like sensors, high decibel protection, etc.

It didn't come with the docking that has the Teams button, but I didn't need it anyway. It does have the Teams button on the headset itself. I think it's only to open Teams and all other call features are the same if you buy the cheaper UC/non-Teams certified version from what I read from other users.

Don't expect anything from ANC (Noise Cancelling), it is available but almost the same if On or Off... But: I recommend turning it on at least at level 1 because otherwise the sound quality is reduced. Everything will sound more bassy and present when activated.

A blue light blinks on the side of the headset when charging on the docking. It's not even slow breathing light but just plain blinking. It's very distracting when working at the desk with the headset on the docking.

I returned the Jabra Evolve2 75 before trying this one. The Jabra was hurting my ears, people complained of bad microphone quality on the other side, huge delay when talking, software not always detecting device. The Poly resolved all my issues.

Although I don't care about it not working, you should know that if the UC model is cheaper, go for it. The Teams certification is a scam. The only thing you will pay for is the Teams logo on the button. It doesn't work. I went through HP support, two computers, 2 headsets, never had I seen the dongle turn purple nor is the button opening Teams when pressing it. At least it does answer the call when it needs to (sensors, button) and mute/unmute but this works for any softphone and regardless of Teams certification, the UC model has the same features.

    Pro

    • Sound quality for music and calls
    • Can be worn both ways
    • Practically no microphone delay
    • Sensor for auto-mute
    • Quick to put in docking station
    • Very light, comfortable and stable, without pressure
    • Microphone sounds good for others
    • Comes with a pouch for travels

    Contra

    • USB-C to... micro USB for direct charging ??
    • Docking is not the same as on the first picture
    • ANC is inexistant
    • Very distracting blinking light when on the docking
    • A second of silence whenever hitting play on a media or unmuting
    • After the weekend, says connected to PC but nothing showing on PC to use
    • Teams certification doesn't exist at all (see comment)

    Good headset with minor imperfections

Unfortunately, it is not clear from the product description that the dongle is required for operation on the PC if you also want to use the headset alternately with your mobile via Bluetooth. The dongle now occupies the only USB-C port.

As a right-hander, I also find it annoying that the microphone has to be on the left in order to play stereo sound correctly. So when I take the headset off the charging station or want to place it on it, I have to move it from one hand to the other every time. The design is illogical. Both the product photos and the instructions actually show the microphone on the right-hand side, but the stereo sound is the wrong way round.

If you want to charge it without a charging station, you need a USB-A cable, which is also completely illogical.

The noise cancelling (i.e. suppression of background noise for the wearer of the headset) is disappointing, I would have expected more. However, this should not be confused with the suppression of background noise for the sound to be transmitted: This is where the headset seems to be TOP according to my dialogue partners. This probably reflects the manufacturer's decades of experience.

Last but not least, I am also missing a user manual. This leaves me with questions such as:
    - What do the different illuminated and flashing colours of the dongle mean?
    - Do I have to switch the headset off manually after use or does it go into standby mode?
    - What happens if the dongle suddenly stops lighting up?
    - What can I expect from the ANC?
    - What is the function of the "Teams" button?

    Pro

    • Processing quality appears to be good
    • Good connection to the PC, long range
    • Call quality TOP

    Contra

    • Microphone must be worn on the left for stereo sound (no, see comment)
    • Occupies the only USB-C port on my notebook
    • Noise-cancelling only weakly pronounced
