ordered the samsung odyse and returned it straight away because the quality of the oleds was so bad when reading text that it looked like we had travelled 20 years into the past ... then decided on this philipps and everything is better ... quality of writing and sound and and and ... if you want to decide between odyssey and philips ... then i definitely recommend this one ... are worlds apart . but it's still overpriced :-)

I highly recommend anyone thinking about buying an ultrawide monitor from another brand to check out the Evnia monitor! It stands out from the rest in terms of value for money and is undoubtedly the best, but unfortunately also very unknown monitor in 2024! Make a smart decision and get the 8900, you won't regret it! 👍🏼

So overall, this is a really great monitor that can be used both for the home office and for gaming afterwards, as it finally covers everything with USB-C 90W charging for "one-cable setup" on the MacBook, 240Hz for gaming and a decent 2K resolution. The screen theoretically doesn't need extra speakers and the Ambilight in the background is a nice addition.
I use the monitor for the Playstation 5 in Picture By Picture mode (i.e. two inputs) as the Playstation 5 does not support widescreen and I can therefore use my Windows PC next door.
This also works perfectly, except for the 2-3 errors. First the less serious errors. OLED screens use various techniques to prevent burn-in. However, since everything is dimmed down extremely in dark scenes on this monitor, it is really difficult to recognise certain things at times. This wouldn't be so bad if it didn't also happen for the entire screen in PBP mode. In other words, if a dark window is open at Input 1, the entire screen automatically goes dark even though Input 2 is actually displaying a totally bright scene. This makes it very tedious to play some games.
Another small bug is that for some reason the Playstation always plays the sound at a high volume in PBP mode, regardless of whether you set the volume to 1 or 100. Well, not so bad.
However, the biggest flaw, which makes this monitor practically unusable after about 500 hours of use, is that a message appears informing you that it needs a pixel refresh from time to time. The only problem is that this message appears in an endless loop. In other words, this message appears every 3 seconds and remains for 3-5 seconds. The bad thing is that this message does not disappear even after a restart. It stays forever until you find a *Windows* PC, connect it with a USB-C cable or USB-UP and flash the latest firmware to the monitor. So for the average consumer, it's actually already dead and a warranty case, as it's unreasonable in my opinion. An error like this simply must not happen.
This message that appears also blocks the normal menu, so you must have made all the settings within 3 seconds :P
So quick guide to fix this error.
Get Windows PC, connect via USB-C or USB-UP.
Install the new Philips Precision Centre and check in this menu whether there is a firmware update, if so -> update to the firmware update (1.0.2) this will resolve this message again. I still have to check whether the problems mentioned above have improved after the firmware update...
Otherwise a good monitor that can do everything.
