    My recommendation for 2019 / early 2020

With this device, Nokia has created what I consider a fantastic trilogy of affordable mid-range smartphones. The Nokia 7.2 is currently my number one recommendation for anyone who doesn't want to pick up a purple banknote because of a logo. The only criticism that might come up for the few people who haven't yet gotten used to a large mobile phone is the size of the screen, and thus of the device. My experience is that you quickly get used to it and even learn to appreciate it, even if you don't often watch films or play games.

    FAQ:

Q: "At this price, there must be a catch, right?"
A: It depends on what you expect. For example, savings are made on the processor, which is not the high-end flagship model. However, no normal person will notice this (not bother, just notice). Another cost-cutting measure is the lack of anorexia, which has two advantages. Firstly, the battery is very generous at 3500 mAh and secondly, there is still room for the beloved headphone jack.

Q: "Why not a cheap Samsung or Huawei?"
A: Unlike other manufacturers, the Android on Nokia devices is "unpolluted", without (mostly unwanted) additional software. I like the design of pure Android much better. It also runs more smoothly and the updates are available much earlier.

    Q: "W'ish camera?"
A: More than good enough for what you want to "shoot". With smartphones, the camera software and post-processing is much more important than anything else anyway. But yes, camera's great.

    Guarantee not provided

    Excerpt from warranty claim:
A brief comment on "physical damage": If a manufacturer uses easily breakable materials and installs them on the housing, it is very convenient if warranty claims are then made that one does not
want to take on in this way. In this way, you also reduce the proportion of warranty costs and possibly also insurance premiums. Thus, the customer's expenditure for a product remains higher even if the product itself initially appears to be inexpensive. Very short-term thinking and a great disservice to the Nokia brand. Only companies with loyal customers survive in this business.

The Nokia brand has thus died for the second time, even if not by the same owners.

    Unfortunately too little too late

After almost two years of ownership, I can say that I am looking forward to my next phone. I'll stick to the mid-range, but this time it won't be Nokia. Even I have to admit that it's over now.

    Contra

    • Overheats a lot and strongly
    • Often lagging due to downclocking
    • Camera is mediocre at best
