Logitech diNovo Mini

I am still very satisfied with the keyboard after a few weeks of use with the multimedia PC
+ Super design
+ Very small
+ Long battery life
+ Practical key combinations (Ctrl+Alt+Del, multimedia keys)
+ Bluetooth receiver is small and can also be used for other devices
- No F-keys (F1-F12)
- Partly a bit fiddly to use because the keys are quite small. Not recommended for writing long emails.
This is a great device. If you have a HTPC this is your controller.
Had it for 3 years now, andver even though now and then I have to do a resart on it, I'm sy till happy with it.
I have owned the Logitech diNovo Mini for a year. The keyboard is used daily. Since I have my PC connected to the TV, I was looking for a suitable input device.
There is the appealing and handy design. You can navigate your PC comfortably from the sofa or bed. After a short period of getting used to the product, you know how to use it. You can also impress your friends with this cool gadget.
Unfortunately, it has some quirks. For a while, the Y button didn't work and then the M button did again, this problem was temporary. When charging, the device has a wobbly contact, but unfortunately it's not easy to plug it in and start charging. It can happen that the Bluetooth connection breaks off, in which case you simply have to remove the battery and reset it at the front of the stick.
I hope Logitech sends a revised version into the race so that the teething troubles are eradicated. The product gets 3 stars from me, but I couldn't do without it either ;-)
Works a treat with my Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 (with Android 4.4.2). Warning: Android does not allow to change the keyboard layout (CH) natively; install External Keyboard Helper Pro from Google Play to do so. Finding the various Fn+key combinations corresponding to the various Android shortcuts (back, home, etc.) take a few try. Typing is not as fast as with a fully-fledge keyboard... but it does the job for e-mail writing or telnet/SSH.

I still have a diNovo mini input device of the first generation. Unfortunately, I was never really satisfied with it; after a longer standby or after a reboot of the HTPC, the keyboard loses the connection. Sometimes it helps to reinsert the battery - but in most cases I have to remove the USB plug and plug it in again. Which isn't exactly great for an HTPC! Seems to be a general problem according to Google research. Therefore only 3 stars.
Apart from that, I think the part is ingenious! Great for operating an HTPC (with MediaPortal). I'm thinking of buying the same keyboard again - the newer versions should supposedly no longer have the problems mentioned above (?!).
Really cool thing. After a short period of getting used to it, it is very easy to use.
For all those who think there is no command for a right mouse click: FN+OK
A rechargeable battery (lasts a very, very long time), charger and Bluetooth adapter are included.
Excellent device!! Works on linux (debian lenny) immediately after connecting it! Highly recommended.
I've been using the thing for about a month now and I'm quite happy with it. After a short period of getting used to it, writing and navigating is quite fast. And the range of the Bluetooth connection is also OK. I can control my Eee Box in the living room from the kitchen through two walls.
The thing is absolutely brilliant - I've had it for more than a year now.
The only problem I can confirm is that the Bluetooth connection sometimes breaks (but only very rarely). You can press the right mouse button with FN+OK.
I have been using the Mini Keyboard for more than a year and can confirm the restrictive agreement of the previous speakers.
positive:
+small and handy
+good battery life
+good lighting
negative:
-touchpad (especially push-button at the bottom) occasionally does not react
-Bluetooth connection no longer active after energy-saving mode (cf. alexarudas) - battery has to be taken out and put in again
-missing right mouse button
-very high price in view of these shortcomings
Soo - unfortunately I have to write in the subjunctive. The part would be great if it weren't for this effect of saying goodbye. I mean the same effect as philippwalther described last time. Only the mouse still works. All the buttons are inactive until the battery is removed and replaced. This is also the solution described on the Logitec website. There is nothing about having to do this over and over again.
If the part worked as it should, then it would be a super part and would deserve the 5 stars alone.
Unfortunately, it cannot be used like this.
under win7 with setpoint 4.80, the part runs as it should. right-click also works flawlessly. i'm amazed at how small the device is. great. even works with the built-in bluetooth adapter which is installed on the asus at3n7a-i, so i don't need the bluetooth usb stick from logitech that comes with it. it doesn't get any better than this. if i could, i'd give it 6 stars.
4/5 as I can confirm the problems described by alexarudas and reto_isaak (SetPoint version 4.8).
Definitely not a trivial software problem.
ingenious little mini keyboard. just perfect for the media centre in the living room.and for surfing a bit in between (entering internet addresses, google search) it is also perfectly suitable and completely sufficient. the touchpad function is really great, got on with it straight away.not quite as precise as on a notebook, but still good enough to navigate in itunes and windows explorer, even when files are displayed in a list.the right mouse button can be operated by clicking FN + the mouse symbol at the top left.the left mouse button can also be triggered by clicking the symbol at the top left or, of course, by clicking the touchpad.
the workmanship is top notch and the keys are also nicely done.
and i don't know why additional fn buttons would be necessary, since all multimedia buttons have their own button anyway, and that's what the dinovo mini is mainly intended for.
@Tokolosh
with "media centre" I simply meant the computer. if the computer is in standby for a longer period of time (over night) or is switched off, the keyboard apparently forgets that it is connected to the computer, and you have to take the battery out and put it back in so that it works again.
If you had to do this every day, the battery holder would break pretty quickly...
I've now got a new one with a newer serial number, so I hope it will still be connected tomorrow.
Otherwise, the part is ideal for controlling winamp, watching videos, etc., so I'll join in. so i'll join you with the 5 stars rating
I think the device is great.
The installation (incl. online software update) took a few minutes. It worked immediately, including the right mouse button!
I use it to control my home server and can surf the internet/stream videos. And all this via a 50" plasma. The reception to the sofa (3-4m) is also no problem.
Since I use the TV screen to copy data from the PC in the office to the media centre in the living room, I was initially put off by the reviews about the "missing right mouse button". But that is not the case.
FN+ok, voila, it couldn't be easier...
I can only recommend buying it.
PS: I can't say anything about standby from the media centre, I use the Tvix 7000 to manage and play back the data.
super part
I connected it to the PS3.
Perfect for internet, menu navigation and the linux running on it.
The touchpad needs some time to get used to, but then it works very well and quickly.
All in all, very satisfied.
Greetings from Lake Constance

Touchpad takes a lot of getting used to
For some reason they forgot to add F-keys to the keyboard???
A really ingenious keyboard!
I connected my PC to my 42" TV at home. Now I can control the PC from the comfort of my sofa and it works great.
I've also been able to control it from further away, like from the corridor, and it works perfectly.
It also works without problems with the multimedia centre, except that I hardly ever use it, but I would prefer to have another right mouse button...
The diNovo mini keyboard is simply ingenious. I use it with an Asus EEE Box, which is mounted on the wall behind a 26" Samsung screen using a Voegels wall mount. The receiver must not be placed too close to the screen or connection problems will occur. However, at a distance of 20 cm from the screen, the whole thing works very well. Ingenious! I can only recommend it for multimedia PCs!
Well made, it just looks stylish:)
Positive
- size
- design
- General function
Negative
- Missing F keys
- No RMT (..it's a mystery to me why the designers didn't place one next to the LMT!?!?)
- Touchpad needs getting used to (sensitivity does not seem homogeneous)
A nice-to-have, where you quickly forget the price when you are comfortably lying on the sofa and controlling the PC!)
I have had this noble piece for a few days now!
I was very happy when I picked it up and went straight home to test it!:-)
so now for my little test!
packaging accessories:
-the outer packaging looks very noble and is sturdy
-the inner packaging turned out a bit bad, everything is made of hard plastic, i really felt a bit sorry for my baby right now!!!
- I was very disappointed when I saw that the usb-receiver looks like an usb-stick and I thought what the hell! (most htpc`s don`t have a visible usb connector in the front! and who always wants to have the flap at the bottom!) so i recommend either an integrated receiver or an usb extension!
-I think it is very good that the keyboard has a battery and a charger is included (although for this money I imagine a better charger!).
commissioning:
-the start-up is very easy! just plug it in and go! i don't recommend the software that comes with it! it just takes up space and is no good!
my first experiences:
-in the beginning i was very disappointed about the touchpad, but with time you get to know it better, but i am still not convinced!
-the keys and the workmanship are really top, even longer texts are no problem and comfortable to write! (I'm also writing this review with the device right now!
positive:
-small, handy, sits well in the hand
-good and noble workmanship
-good range
-battery and charger
-lighting
-usb receiver can be powered from the back of the keyboard
negatives:
-tax
-touchpad
-no charging station (only a cheap one)
-usb receiver
-software
overall verdict:
you don`t want to wait for something better and you have money left, i recommend this keyboard, i think it`s the best keyboard for htpc`s at the moment, but i want more, it didn`t convince me yet, hope for more alternatives!
Small, light, and absolutely sexy. The keys are pleasantly pressable and typing is no problem for smaller texts. The touchpad is usable, but does not come close to the precision of a notebook touchpad.
The only thing I miss is a "right-mousebutton" key; the right mouse button has to be entered via a somewhat tedious key combination. A "delete" key would also be desirable; this is also only accessed via a key combination.
All in all, this is currently by far the best alternative to the keyboard mouse for the HTC PC in the living room.
Ingenious piece from Logitech! In function, design and quality.
Great part!
But I'm a bit annoyed by Digitec's pricing policy. Bought it last week for 115CHF and now I see the reduction to 75CHF. Discontinued model, bad timing...I don't really care.
About the keyboard itself: With a little practice, it's easy to type. I connected it to a "streaming netbook" - Media Center integration also works well.
But I'm really annoyed about the price now....
Join me.
- The touchpad really doesn't react that well.
- I couldn't detect the buzzing now!
I can't confirm the ''squeaking'' of the keys either.
- I personally don't find the workmanship perfect either.
In my opinion, the keyboard is not suitable for navigating comfortably through Windows. (from the sofa).
However, for an htpc with the ''xbmc'' interface or others, it fulfils its requirements well.
Greetings caem
Certainly, all in all, a successful thing and probably the first (and only?) choice for an HTPC.
However, the following points bother me:
- The touchpad generally does not react ideally and is too small for comfortable operation (trackball would have been more ideal).
- From time to time, the device makes a very audible, annoying buzzing noise.
- The keys 'squeak' in parts
It is still a good device, but for the rather high price of this "luxury item" I would have expected something more, especially with the touchpad.
Actually, I would normally round up 3.5 stars to 4. Today I'm only giving it 3 to dampen the exuberant reviews of the others a bit ;)
Can only agree with my (last 4) previous speakers.
Cool design, long battery life, no problems at all with the connection. It's really fun to use it to control my HTPC.
One small remark: the USB receiver (size of a normal USB stick) should be smaller.
Still, full marks. Purchase recommendation
I use the device for an HTPC.
Soon I noticed that I had to laboriously reconnect the device after every PC restart (open the cover, press the button, get up from the sofa, press the button on the dongle).
Unusable for my purposes -> return to seller...
