    Finally another affordable Pixel

I have been using the Google Pixel 5 for three weeks now. I bought it in a nearby foreign country.... The phone fulfills all my wishes and I am super happy with it! Finally, once again a Pixel that is affordable. Since the Pixel 1 I have used OP devices and now finally made the step back again.

The performance is unique and this despite the "bad" processor. Everything runs smoothly and there are no jerks! The battery is great. With a "screen on time" of 6 hours, the battery is still at 30-40%! The size is just right, the device is not too big (like the OP by now) and at the same time not too small with a 6 inch display. What of course still speaks for a Pixel are the monthly updates!

Unfortunately, there is also a BIG negative point. 5G does not work in Switzerland (Sunrise / Swisscom). As with other devices, there is no "certification" between the Swiss network operators and Google. Here you can find more on the topic and a good description: https://twitter.com/NetMonster... Maybe someone has also made experiences with Salt?!

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me!

EDIT 08.12.2020: 5G should be supported by Sunrise / Swisscom from Q1 2021. You can find out more here: https://support.google.com/pixelphone...

    Simple but very good

For me personally, it is exactly the right smartphone: no frills, powerful, functional and yet not without charm. As a computer scientist, I appreciate the slim design and straightforward functionality just as much as the fast updates for Android from Google. I previously had the Nexus 5 and the Pixel 2, for example, and I love the Pixel 5...

I am a Goole Pixel fan

I've had every Nexus, and of course I'm excited about the Pixel line.

If you didn't know that it didn't have the very latest processor, you wouldn't notice it, because it's what you make of it, not what's in it. My mobile
phone now has the same amount of RAM as my notebook... it's crazy :-)

It's very handy in size, I'm actually used to the Pixel 2 XL and then it's a bit of a change.

    The perfect Android smartphone

This smartphone delivers the cleanest Android experience of all Android smartphones. An Android OS without crappy bloatware like other manufacturers. The functions that you need every day are very well implemented here, such as the display, battery or camera. Whether the CPU (SD 765G) is enough for a smartphone in this price range is something everyone has to decide for themselves, but for me it's perfect because it's efficient and fast enough for everyday use (since I don't play mobile games anyway, the performance is enough for me). The 8GB Ram and the 90Hz screen also contribute to the fast operation in addition to the modern CPU. I've read that 5G shouldn't work in Switzerland, but I haven't been able to try it out myself yet. Since the actual aluminium back is covered with a plastic coating, probably to hide the wireless charging cutout, the back doesn't feel quite as high-quality, but not cheap either, since you can kind of feel that it's not just plastic.

Edit 31.03.2021: Apparently 5G should now also work with Swisscom and Sunrise: https://support.google.com/pixelphone...

Something has happened since Pixel 2, fully satisfied.

Great part, but it hurts a little when technically possible features are explicitly not released or licensed by providers or manufacturers. VoWiFi, VoLTE only from Swisscom and 5G currently not yet certified by any Swiss provider (https://support.google.com/pixelphone...). I have to live without wifi calling, I rarely stand at a 5G mast anyway. It's also a shame that you can't connect a monitor via a USB-C 3.1 to HDMI adapter, which Google supposedly disabled in the source code. Otherwise I am super satisfied.
EDIT: Sunrise is now also on board with VoWiFi/VoLTE and 5G.
