The quality of the scans on a sheet of paper with text only could be better.
The text is slightly blurred, even when I increase the resolution. If the scanned objects do not lie completely flat on the scanner disc, the scan is blurred. Scanned texts are then blurred and difficult to read. The problem occurs mainly with books because the paper curves upwards at the book fold. But magazines with wavy paper or paper that has had a few drops of water can also cause problems.
For the occasional scanning of documents, this scanner is certainly perfectly fine at this price. I am also not completely convinced by the photo scan, because there are many streaks to be seen although there are none on the original, in addition it often has a colour cast, mostly reddish to pink.
The scanner must be connected directly to the computer with the short USB cable supplied, otherwise the light unit does not switch on and you get black scans. Extension cables or a longer cable do not work, a USB hub with power supply does not work either.

I bought the scanner because it was the best-selling one with good reviews and because the super scanner in my PIXMA800 no longer worked. For my Mac, however, I first had to download the installation software from the net, which was not described anywhere. Then it worked perfectly, as expected.
However, I will only be able to give a final assessment when it is still working perfectly after 10 years without a built-in programme causing it to malfunction.
Scans well and runs directly via USB, unfortunately not as on the packaging directly Plug'n'Play because you have to install the software program so that it works smoothly.
It has a set correction that straightens the edges and can therefore warp/straighten the image, even into the undesirable. e.g. oval images are therefore sometimes not completely scanned, but with several attempts it works.

Works well. Scantool (Windows) starts automatically after installation, but you can switch it off and only start it manually when you need it. According to the docu on the web, it also works under Linux, but I haven't tested it yet.
Good product/price. Installation under Win10 no problem. Easy to use.
Driver from the internet, Mac plugged in, runs. Good so far.
