Miserable UX / Used to love Bose but not any more

Fiddled with these for months and now giving up and looking for another product. Had Bose wired noise-cancelling earbuds for years and loved them; but these are just miserable to use.

    (1) Touch controls can't be disabled,
which means almost every time you touch them to adjust them in your ear, you'll stop/stop playback, change the volume, and/or jump tracks. Ditto if anything brushes against them (hair, hood, etc). Lots of complaints on the internet, but still no action from Bose to at least allow owners to disable these features.

    (2) The noise cancelling depends on a proper seal, and the least vibration can break that seal - i.e. when the bus hits a pothole, my audio goes wonky. And yes, I've tried every combination of tips and bands with no improvement. So be ready for frequent background static and the like.

    (3) Also had regular problems with imbalanced audio - one ear louder than the other - and almost no way to fix it. Ditto sometimes really low audio output no matter what the phone volume was. I tried all the troubleshooting tips on the Bose website, which basically meant I had to delete and re-pair my earbuds every week or so. Sometimes improved things temporarily but never good for any length of time.

    (4) No idea why *everyone* is going for wireless these days. Radically reduces the battery life on my phone keeping BT on all the time, and regularly struggled with connectivity issues (i.e. various audio inconsistencies when BT struggles). And I'm always worried about losing them - i.e. sleeping on a plane. Of course you can buy cables to connect them for a bit more security, but why not just get wired earbuds and be done with it!

Classic case of over-engineered technology - Bose should have kept it simple, and this would have been a *MUCH* better product.

    Pro

    • Great audio quality WHEN THEY WORK

    Contra

    • Finicky touch controls
    • Unreliable audio output
    • Unreliable BT connection

Extremely buggy, but great sound quality and noise cancelling

Tried 3 different models; VERY BUGGY. Headphone software and sensors make regular usage at best slightly annoying and at most unusable. To expect in all models:

    Pro

    • Sound quality
    • Noise cancelling

    Contra

    • Sometimes doesn't detect in-ear
    • Sometimes doesn't charge
    • Sometimes doesn't disconnect when back in case
    • Sometimes force-plays music for no reason
    • Touch controls extremely sensitive
    • Quiet, high pitched noise in left earbud; all models
    • Sometimes one of the earbuds fails to connect

Great if you want to be busy

    Great headphones
But you spend most of your time trying to get things paired and keep them paired. So constantly opening and closing the charging box etc.

    Pro

    • Sound quality
    • Wear comfort
    • Super noise cancellation

    Contra

    • Coupling
    • Bluetooth connection

Simply Bose 💪 It's all about music that's perfect......

Best music enjoyment.... I don't care about anything else 💪
I have everything: B&O, all Apple products, Beats, Sony and Sennheiser.... But nobody can match the sound of Bose 😉

    Pro

    Contra

    • Not because I'm only interested in the sound quality

    Best & most comfortable headphones

Anyone who likes the Samsung Buds will love these headphones. The Samsung Buds don't actually have ANC, which bothered me. At the same time, I don't like in-ear headphones because I just don't find them comfortable, which is why I stuck with the Samsung Buds.
Now I've come across this Bose model. The headphones are "clamped" into the ear and therefore hold very well, especially when jogging and sweating, but at the same time they are not deep in the ear, which makes them very comfortable to wear. You can't even hear the ambient noise right next to a busy road, ANC is really very good. I'm thrilled, the best headphones I've ever had.

    Pro

    • Comfortable
    • Holding while jogging
    • ANC is top!

    Contra

    • Somewhat large / conspicuous
    • Relatively high price

    Excellent in-ears

Connecting the headphones to the smartphone was simple and intuitive using the Bose Music app. When I put the headphones on for the first time, it felt like the band was playing right next to me. Everything around me went quiet when the new "Immersive" mode was activated. The first time I opened it, I had to figure out that the case (in my case) had to be opened for a second or two (until the light came on) before the headphones would wake up from standby, which meant I had to put the headphones back and then put them on again. Once you've worked that out, there are no negative points for me. Satisfied all round.
