These headphones are excellent, the sound quality is amazing, but when worn for a long time they could become uncomfortable. Nevertheless, I think it will take some time to get used to them so that they don't get so tight in the long term.

Compared to the Beyerdynamics DT 770 pro, the bass and treble are not pushed as much but the mid-range is easier to hear. Overall, the sound is flatter than the DT 770 pro, but the bass and treble are still very clear and pleasant. Initially I had concerns with these headphones (not yet unpacked) 80 Ohm for mixing and mastering?...and was unsure after ordering because in forums and reviews pros and cons were extremely different and absolutely confusing. I had ordered other headphones and immediately cancelled them because of the uncertainty; then I cancelled the order and kept the DT 990. Well, my realisation is this: The more expensive the studio headphones, the better the sound. Comparing a 140 CHF cheap headphone with a 500/800/1000 CHF or more expensive studio headphone is simply unfair; which is unfortunately often done. Everyone's hearing is different, for mixing and mastering you have to train your hearing to the headphones and learn to understand them, which can take weeks or even months. That's exactly what I do with the DT 990 pro. And listen to a lot of music with them again and again. Select reference tracks, listen to them regularly and then compare them with the mix. Depending on the style of music, you should choose one or two professional tracks as a reference, but not too many. This approach always applies, regardless of the price range. Professionals, most of whom have studied sound engineering and have decades of experience in mastering, and whose ears are highly trained, can also pick out mistakes made by renowned international artists. Nevertheless, I'm saving up for a much more expensive pair of headphones that are in a different price and sound league.
I use the DT 990 Pro for composing, mixing and mastering. I use the DT 770 for monitoring. Together they make a good team for making and listening to music. The DT 990 Pro is quieter than the DT 770 Pro. I realised one thing after just 48 hours: If a soundtrack sounds good on the DT 990 pro, it is well mixed. If it sounds good on both headphones, it is perfectly mixed.

I would recommend the headphones without hesitation! I use them for gaming, listening to music and watching university podcasts. I think the sound quality is perfect, the build quality is very high and I also like the fact that the headphones are open. The fact that they are open is a bit of a matter of taste. You can hear the PC a little and also ambient noise. However, I personally find it more pleasant when you can hear ambient noise and your ears are not completely isolated. I also find that the ears don't get too warm too quickly. The fact that the headphones don't work with Bluetooth doesn't bother me personally either. I don't think the price is cheap, but I've never really seen headphones of this quality before, which is why I think I'll be wearing these headphones for years to come.

Unfortunately I always have a problem with headsets because I have big ears, so it went back, too bad.

Obviously I got the wrong one. Since the DT770 was a godsend for me back in the 80s (!!!) but unfortunately unaffordable, it had to be the DT990. I was even warned that the new one was very linear. But I had to feel it! And what I heard was so brutally linear that I had a spontaneous physical reaction of nausea. There can be something frightening about mid-range!
I'm probably damaged by my Marshall monitor ...
Went back.
Maybe there is still the DT770.

Comfortable, lightweight headphones that deliver very faithful sound reproduction. The fact that they are open does not cut you off from the outside world, so you can hear yourself if you use them with a microphone.

Very good sound quality and with the matching amplifier (Soundblaster G6) a top recommendation!

The DT 990Pro surprised me with how comfortable they are. This applies to both the ear cups and the headband. As the 990 are open ear headphones, you don't have as much pressure on your ears as with closed headphones. I often wear the headphones for several hours at a time, which is why this is quite important for me. (With the open ear, however, it is important to note that noisebleed is present. (Means that they let some of the sound through)
My version (Limited Black Edition) has a completely smooth cable in contrast to the standard version, where one part is curled.
I can't fault the audio quality, I used an amplifier to be able to use it on my PC. (Tested with Apple Music High-Res Lossles.)
I also use the headphones for playing CoD games. I am positively surprised by the precision of the opponents' footsteps (to locate the opponents or to hear someone behind you / in a corner etc.). (Also nice is that you can hear yourself well when talking to friends in Discord, something that always bothered me with closed over ear headphones).
Negative points are the noisebleed due to the design, which doesn't bother me.
As far as I can see, the cable is not replaceable (so you'd better take care of it).
And finally; as these are high-impedance headphones (250 Ohm) it is necessary to use an amplifier. I use the FiiO KA13 (available here at Digitec: 39214260) which works on both PC and mobile thanks to the USB-C to USB-C and USB-C to Lightning adapter supplied).

It should be mentioned that everyone's hearing and anatomical characteristics are different, so headphones are just as different and induvidually fit or not fit. I had got used to the same headphones, but with 80 ohms. Unfortunately, the 80 Ohm is too loud for my audio interface, so I had to use the limiter to reduce the overall volume considerably. You usually do the same when mixing and mastering, but not that much. The 250 Ohm is really perfect. For me personally, these headphones are just right for composing, mixing and mastering.
The first cinematic soundtrack project I composed with these headphones. The link leads to the mp3 on my website; it's safe: https://riffaquaria.ch/StripedDol...
The mids are good, bass and treble are not as boosted as with the 770 pro.
If you want to buy or have already bought headphones for producing music, the most important thing is to train your ears, or rather your hearing, to the headphones. This takes time and a lot of listening to and comparing music.
Lightweight, comfortable and very good in all frequency ranges. I ordered an 80 Ohm and use it mainly via a Pionneer amp (so no volume problems), but I tested it on my IPhone and the volume was way too loud for me (I listen loud, but not so loud as to burst my eardrums). I highly recommend it

Purchased with the Elgato wave 3 microphone and the FiiO K5 Pro ESS amplifier for gaming and video.
Wired and you can hear the surrounding noise, but clearly superior to my Steel Series 7 headphones, the difference in quality is very significant. Highly recommendable.
