Ascaso Dream PID
Ascaso Dream PID
Am very satisfied with it.
Can only recommend the Youtube video of the Kaffemacher, where this machine is reviewed.
Would buy it again.

This is my first espresso machine. I've been drinking Nespresso for 15 years. Now I've finally woken up and realised that I had no coffee culture or knowledge at all. Nespresso is just standardised brew, sorry fanboys.
The Ascaso Dream PID combines high-end features (PID) with an acceptable price and elegant design.
The thermoblock architecture was a selling point for me. Under no circumstances did I want to put up with the 10-15 minute warm-up time of a boiler machine. After 6 months of use, I realise that there is a noticeable difference if I let the machine preheat for ~5 minutes with the filter fitted. Still better than waiting 10+ minutes.
Unfortunately, the water tank is a joke: it's a clear plastic container that simply slides into the machine. There is no resistance, no holder, no clip, no groove, nothing to hold it in place. During operation, the tank is shaken out of the machine by up to 2cm by the vibrations of the pump. The good thing about this is that if you don't check how much water is still in it, you can easily pull out and tilt the tank to make a whole espresso and the pump won't run dry.
If you want to use the cup tray, I recommend buying a silicone mat and cutting it to size. Having espresso cups on the machine is practical because they are all warm after 10 minutes, but the clinking during operation is deafening. A silicone mat helps to dampen the noise.
