Clearly better than the predecessor, but still somehow superfluous

I bought the Apple Watch 2 in aluminium 14 days ago at the Apple Store in Zurich. I already had the previous model and was moderately satisfied with it. Apart from being a bit slow, the first one also performed reliably.

The new model is noticeably thicker and therefore feels a bit clunkier. Otherwise, nothing has changed in terms of appearance. The display is still very nice. It is supposed to be much brighter, but since the last one was already very bright, you hardly notice a difference here either.

The main difference is the speed - the new one is drastically faster than the Apple Watch 1. In addition, of course, there is the waterproofness and the better battery. It now lasts for about two working days, whereas the first one usually ran out after one.

The design is not stunning, but it is still the best looking smartwatch in my opinion. I also have a Gear S2 (sport) - it's a lot uglier, but it's better to use :-) Well, it's only a sports watch. Basically, Apple is now marketing the Apple Watch 2 as a fitness tracker - and that's a good thing, because it's great in this area, especially thanks to the newly integrated GPS receiver. As a fitness tracker it's great - as a watch it's rather superfluous, and unfortunately that's still true. I've had it on my wrist permanently for 14 days now and haven't had any problems using it. I have turned off the notifications for the most part, as they are primarily annoying.

About the stars: I give it four out of five. Not because it's outstanding, but because it's probably the best smartwatch currently available. The design: well. Too thick, but not overly ugly :-) Performance: good, but not perfect - still waiting too long e.g. for Twitter etc. Workmanship: top, runtime: 2 days, better, but still not enough. The display is great.
