The USB cable is mainly used to charge the router and can also be used for software updates, but it is not used to establish an Ethernet connection or to share the internet connection via USB.
If you access the settings via the website, i.e. not on the device, you can select 'Quick settings' at the top. There you will find the option "Send SSID" which is ticked by default. So uncheck the box and save, done :-)
My ZTE router runs as a 5G input for older Fritzboxes 6890, I would try it with another powerline, it could be that Fritz does something special in terms of blocking, it's China's competition. 5G routers cost AVM around 500 Fr in Switzerland, although they should only cost 150 Fr, says AVM itself.
There are Brending German Telekon or original manufacturers! In the end, they are all the same. Take the version for Fr 291.- cool device! You still have the right to return it. External antenna does not work. 5 G is only now and then but 4 G Plus is also very fast.
Hello, I have tried it with several computers with a VPN client on L2TP or OpenVPN and I have no problem to access my office remotely. However, I don't think you can directly install a VPN client inside the router (nor a fixed IP or DynDNS) to create a remote network.
There are two antenna connections for mobile reception. The first input is for 5g SA and is therefore currently of no use to you in Switzerland, as we only have 5g NSA so far. The second is for 5G NSA / LTE. In a review on amazon.de I found the following:

At first I was a bit desperate about the antenna connection because I thought it wouldn't work. But I have now received an answer from ZTE and have been able to test it successfully:

I can confirm the feedback 100%. I have now carried out various tests by putting the router (for the test!) in a metal money box in a cellar room with extremely poor 4G reception and then mounting the external antenna (in my case the DMM-7-38-2TS9 from Panorama) on the cellar window.
The fact is that port 1 cannot receive a 4G signal via an external antenna, but port 2 can. I then had about 4 times the internet speed with an external antenna (instead of 8Mb/sec then about 32Mb/sec). It didn't matter if both cables were connected or only one.
However, I also found out that the antenna is only useful in situations where the router is in a bad position. With the antenna connected at the same location, no improvement is noticeable. Apparently the integrated antennas of the router are very good and do not need any further "support" and get the signal "directly". This can of course be different with better antennas - especially outdoor antennas.
If my technical understanding is correct, then no MIMO reception is possible with external antennas on 4G/LTE, as only one antenna is controlled. That is a pity.
With 5G, both antennas are controlled, then MIMO should also work.

I have now been able to try out the ZTE MU5001 in concrete terms (the advanced settings are only available on the desktop browser or PC WebGUI, the mobile browser WebGUI is rather very reduced):
- There are 3 WiFi SSID available, 1*2.4GHz and 1*5GHZ as well as 1*2.4GHZ guest access. For all 3 SSID, SSID name, password and SSID hide can be set separately (optional). For Wifi guest access, the device connected to it can optionally be automatically isolated from the other WiFi SSIDs via the firewall.
- The internal IP network and the network range of the router can also be set as desired. The same applies to the associated DHCP range (IP4 and IP6). However, all 3 SSIDs share the same internal IP network (there is no possibility to define a separate IP network for the Wifi guest access).
- There is no flight mode (as e.g. with Netgear AC810S).
- The WebGUI in both desktop and mobile browser mode is "somewhat" unstructured (compared to the Netgear AC810S).
- USB-C and Ethernet ports are without covers to protect against dust and lint deposits.
Conclusion I can actually recommend the device. I cannot say what the device is capable of in terms of 5G, as this is problematic in the Italian networks (where I have now tested the device), as the feed lines to the 4G/5G antennas are very often overloaded from my own experience (max. 4G/5G signal but hardly any real data bandwidth - often over lunchtime and in the evening).

In the digitec shop there are 3 models or offers? of the ZTE MU5001 (with different prices). Based on the available specifications (as they are partly recorded very differently) I can't see any differences (maybe I didn't look properly). Does anyone (digitec?) know more about this?

I got this device (ZTE MU5001 HyperMobile) in March 2023 for a "Slow Business Travel" by bike through mostly rural areas in Italy. I am very happy with it. The only thing that bothers me, now back in home use, is that you can't operate it without a battery inserted only via USB-C. In addition, ZTE's 'reverse charging' does not work for me, so the router cannot be misused as a power bank for the mobile.
I don't know a precise answer to your two questions. Assumptions:
1.
Far backwards compatible (802.11a).
2.
It may only differ in terms of which GSM bands are supported, as there are differences between e.g. North America, China and Europe.
The model here on Digitec is certainly suitable for Europe.
