The ZTE 5G router works with most SIM cards and network operators as it offers broad support for 5G and 4G LTE frequency bands and supports both NSA and SA networks. It is designed for global use and is compatible with different mobile network providers, allowing flexible use.
Yes, you can,
but I would no longer recommend this router, the webgui is rubbish and the 5G connection is partly unusable, I have already handed it in for electronic scrap!
Hello, unfortunately I can't answer that, but you should be sure that it is a TS9 connector that you want to plug in, otherwise there is an adapter for it.
As far as I remember there is an (default) option to disconnect from the carrier if there is no traffic (there is a timeout to it). In this case, the diode on the front panel goes off. Maybe this is the cause. Have a look in the router config.
I have positioned the unit directly at the window. It definitely does not need an antenna. Function in the house on all floors and even in the garden is top!
Hello
I can't really answer that. It is the interaction of WIFI and 4G/5G that ultimately defines the throughput. I have between 10 and 40 MB/s at the end....
As far as I can see, nothing is throttled on mine. However, the bridge mode does not work correctly; the internal IP is always forwarded instead of the external IP. I have not yet found a solution. Bridge mode cannot be used in this way.
I found the function in the control panel under Advanced Settings → Router Settings → MAC-IP Assignment. However, only on the desktop interface and not on the mobile version.
Port forwarding problems with the ZTE MC801A
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I bought the ZTE MC801A router because it was previously not possible to contact the heat pump company's server with a heat pump gateway that was connected to the WLAN network of the 4G router I was using before. This would be necessary for remote control of the heat pump via the internet. According to the heat pump company, certain TCP ports must be open for the gateway for this purpose, which could be made possible with port forwarding on the router.
Because the MC801A router allows port forwarding, I bought it from Digitec. The router works perfectly with my WLAN-connected devices such as notebook, iPhone, iPad and other devices. The heat pump gateway also connects to the Wi-Fi network of the ZTE MC801A router without any problems; unfortunately, the gateway is still unable to connect to the heat pump company's server.
Although I had correctly entered the port forwarding rules for the required free ports of the heat pump gateway in the firewall setup of the ZTE-MC801A router, the corresponding ports were not opened. After some googling, I found out that, according to information in newsgroups, port forwarding with the MC801A router only works if either the router is operated in bridge mode or a public dynamic IP address can be provided by the Internet provider.
Hence my questions to the users of the ZTE MC801A router:
- Has anyone experienced similar problems to mine with port forwarding or has anyone successfully managed port forwarding with this router?
- I could use the ZTE-MC801A router with a SIM card from Galaxus or Salt. Does anyone know if you can get a public dynamic IP address from Galaxus or Salt for the respective SIM card?
Hello everyone! I have recently started using the router and have noticed that it interrupts the data traffic / network connection as soon as there are no devices in the network (network LED does not light up). As soon as I want to use my smartphone again, for example, the LED on the router lights up again, but my smartphone takes quite a while to reconnect to the WLAN (it's not the latest one). Is there somewhere I can set the router not to interrupt this connection? What parameters do I need to change in the configuration? Thanks in advance for your help!
