Some time ago I also wanted to switch to mesh mode to use the access point. Unfortunately, I couldn't manage it. But apparently I'm not alone - one user on Reddit said that it was pure luck and only worked once for him 10 times. https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/znfady/xiaomi_ax3000_cannot_disable_mesh_mode/

Hello In the Xiaomi Home app there is a green button under Network connection and Router optimisation: WIFI OPTIMISATION Start this The MESH network searches for the best connection between the nodes For example, I have 6 of them, one of which is defined as a gateway 3 of them are connected via Ethernet cable The others without With the WLAN optimisation you then have the best network All nodes give me about 385 Mbs Greetings

I have just installed the system in my flat at the weekend. More than 10 devices can certainly be connected, as this is already the case in my home. According to the manufacturer's website, there are up to 254 devices: https://www.mi.com/global/product/xiaomi-mesh-system-ax3000/

If the reception is reasonably good, it will work. Whether the latency (delay) is small enough for gaming would have to be tried. I have 2 AX3000 connected via LAN as a mesh network. Works perfectly.

Good morning NuclearCity I would use the zyxel nr5101 as a LAN-GATEWAY, set it in bridge mode, turn off the WLAN from the nr5101. Connect one AX3000 directly with rj45 cable. The other AX3000s connect wirelessly to an invisible WLAN network. After 24h or 48h, the various AX3000s automatically connect to the best available device in the vicinity. The established XIAOMI network is visible in the XIAOMI app. Both devices have WIFI 6 as standard I don't know if they are compatible with each other Greetings Christian

Yes, of course, but it's much simpler than that. You connect an Ethernet LAN cable to the Fritzbox (or any other router), then switch off the Fritzbox WLAN completely, remove all other devices from the Fritzbox and plug them into the 3 port Ethernet switch on the AX3000 router. Now restart everything, connect to the AX3000 router and set up the WLAN on it, you can also use the WLAN key that you had previously used with the Fritzbox. From then on, the AX3000 router configuration will manage all IP addresses and all WLAN devices. The Fritzbox is then effectively only a modem that establishes the Internet connection. It was exactly the same with my parents, Fritzbox and lousy WLAN, then the AX3000 system was installed, the Fritzbox WLAN was switched off and from now on there is perfect WLAN in the whole house.

It worked fine for me, I bought 3 pieces and installed the system in a very old restaurant in Geneva with very thick walls. Result: everywhere top wifi up to the farthest corner of the kitchen, warehouse and toilets, on the terrace and at least also on the opposite pavement at the competitor's!!! ( Swisscom fibre optic, 320 Mbs ) Pavement opposite approx. 85 Mbs

Yes, of course, you have to do this even with the first mesh router. Use the WAN Ethernet connection for this. The router of the Internet service provider is connected to the Xiaomi Mesh Router with a LAN cable. Then switch off the WLAN at the Internet service provider router and set up the WLAN at the Xiaomi Mesh Router. The mesh will then take over the WiFi operation and the devices connected to the mesh router 3 port switch will also receive their IP addresses from the Xiaomi mesh router.

Hello Do they also work with a Fritzbox?

Yes, of course, the Fritz Box provides the Internet connection. One of these mesh routers is then connected directly with the WAN connection of this router to a LAN connection of the Fritz Box. After that, the mesh system from Xiaomi will provide the WLAN. The WLAN of the Fritzbox must then be switched off and the accessibility in the entire house or flat for WLAN devices should then be available everywhere. By the way, each Xiaomi mesh router has an additional 3 port Gbit switch built in and up to 10 such Xiaomi mesh routers can be used as an extension. The system is very powerful and can manage up to 256 devices.
