Hello Hugibert
Unfortunately I have no experience with the DS224+, but:
Contrary to all opinions, I have installed 4 pcs in an RS815+, which is in video recording 24/7, i.e. continuous writing and reading.
In use for approx. 1/2 year, no problems so far.
How could there be, WD guarantees this performance!
The Synology is now X times faster!
Video search, rewind etc. is now a fraction of what it was before.
I can only recommend this to everyone.
The only disadvantage: migration...
With most Synolgys, you can't simply swap the HD drives for SSDs and then restore / or reconstruct a backup...
Synology usually wants a new installation for this change.
You have to check the manual or the forum to find out beforehand.
Thank you very much
Kind regards
Hi, have installed the SSDs in an old server in March 2022 with 2003 Server (32 bit) OS. so far no problem. Hope it stays like this!? Server was built by myself, of course with Intel server board.
Greetings
You get a warning message that it is an unsupported hard disk, but it is still possible to mount the hard disk in a pool and volume; it is correctly recognised as an SSD. So far I have not noticed any loss of functionality, but I do not have a long-term test.
That depends on the mainboard. Check the data storage interface on your desired board.
