Unfortunately I have no experience with the DS224+, but:
Contrary to all opinions, I have installed 4 pcs in an RS815+, which is in video recording 24/7, i.e. continuous writing and reading.
In use for approx. 1/2 year, no problems so far. How could there be, WD guarantees this performance!
The Synology is now X times faster! Video search, rewind etc. is now a fraction of what it was before.
I can only recommend this to everyone.
The only disadvantage: migration... With most Synolgys, you can't simply swap the HD drives for SSDs and then restore / or reconstruct a backup... Synology usually wants a new installation for this change. You have to check the manual or the forum to find out beforehand.
What adapters are needed to insert this SA500 WD Red into a Nas (e.g. Qnap)? The connections of the previous hard drive are not the same, you still need an enclosure for the SA500, right?
