This power switch is designed to be used exclusively with WD Smartware Pro software for Windows.

However, this software is no longer available and is no longer

Does anyone know what kind of hard drive is installed? Why is the external 14GB so much cheaper than the internal WD Red? My plan is to buy the external and install it internally.

Is the case made of plastic or metal? I see a lot of people on the internet with dead discs (earlier models). Is the disc very warm?

Housing made of plastic. When logged in, the disc runs; once logged out, it does not run (formatted for iMac). Doesn't get very warm. I am satisfied with it.

Is anyone else having problems retrieving the folder size (cmnd & I)? My 8TB disk just doesn't show anything, which makes it difficult to check backups.
