Hello Patrick You need a router so that you can create a network (VLAN) for each house. You can then separate the VLans as you wish or also release certain devices for the others, e.g. weather station etc. ps. I would be careful with sharing an internet connection as the liability is always attributed to the owner.

Hello, With Ubiquiti in particular, it is usually necessary to install the software on the computer or laptop to manage the components. Of course, it is also possible to get everything up and running without it, but one or two things can go wrong. The switch as such, of course, manages the connected devices and gives each one what it needs until the capacity of the! GB uplink is exhausted. However, it does this very intelligently so that there is almost never a bottleneck. I have everything from the company and have never had a problem.

Yes, that's absolutely no problem, the managed functions can only be used with the UniFi account, but the basic function, simple very good router and you're done, it works flawlessly. And best of all, this router comes with a USB-C power supply. For the price, you get a really great product.

Gemäss http://dl.ui.com/ds/usw-flex-mini_ds.pdf heisst es "USW-Flex-Mini uses port-based VLANs only and does not support SSH, STP (forwarding only), 802.1X, DNS suffix, or experience in the controller.". Ich habe nutze (noch) keine VLANs, weiss aber, dass der Flex Mini z.B. keine LAG kann, der US-8 aber schon.

This switch uses a 5V, 1A USB-C power adapter, just like the adapters on mobile phones. Here is a picture of the adapter: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0019/7518/9613/products/USW-Flex-Mini-EU_power_adapter_grande.png?v=1621851828

Hi RobiiJohner Yes, the switch can be supplied with power via POE. However, this must be supported by your switch/router, otherwise there is usually nothing wrong with it. Alternative suggestion: How about a coupling piece? Then you pull the cable to where there is power, then you connect a switch there :) z. e.g. the Wirewin coupling RJ-45 (S/FTP, Cat. 6a)

You can power it via a poe injector or via the usb c power supply that comes with it. the poe injector is also available here and you can use the 24v version of it Ubiquiti Passive PoE Injector 24V-12W (PoE Injector).

Maybe this is a variant for you, but it is a more expensive variant. If I understand you correctly, you will not have a direct power supply at the installation site or you will have to do without one, which is why the POE variant. The following switch is supplied with POE once and outputs POE four times. This may be what you are looking for and need. https://www.ui.com/unifi-switching/unifi-switch-flex/
