Everything works fine behind the Swisscom Internetbox in DMZ mode. As a complete replacement for the IB it should work with the right SFP+ module (there are instructions on the net), but I haven't tried that as the current setup works without problems (incl. port forwarding and VPN)

Yes, you can plug your Cat7 copper cable into the router's 10 Gigabit RJ45 port to achieve 10 Gbps. The router has a 10G RJ45 port that supports 10GBASE-T, which is compatible with Cat7 cables. The SFP+ ports are intended for fibre optic or direct attach copper (DAC) cables and require special modules, so they are not mandatory for your copper cable if you use the RJ45 10G port.

Hi, I have the exact same situation as you have. I have the Cloud Gateway Fiber in my tech cabinet together with my NAS. Port 7 is the default SFP+ WAN port used for the init7 fiber connection. I use port 6 with the Ubiquiti SFP+ Modul (UACC-CM-RJ45-MG) as you mention to connect to the NAS and port 5 (RJ45, 10Gb) to my MacMini via the Cat6 wiring of my flat. You do not need a 10Gb Switch for that unless you want to connect more 10Gb devices. By default port 5 is configured as a WAN port. You just have to "unassign" port 5 under settings -> Internet. Then you can normally use it as a 10Gb port for any of your devices.

Due to different suppliers and delivery conditions, there may be price differences compared to other suppliers. We always try to offer a fair market price, but this is not possible for all products.

The Cloud Gateway Fiber lets you control your Ubiquiti network installation (wifi antenna / switch / cameras) with ease and advanced service management. I don't know your operator or your internet box, but it is possible for some operators to connect the Cloud Gateway Fiber directly. A search on the internet will tell you if this is possible for your internet operator. The Cloud Gateway Fiber is the best non-Wi-Fi router to date, designed for those who need 10 Gbps bandwidth without compromise. This router has so much to offer that it's impossible to list them all.

In principle, the router can technically replace your Internet box (except for the Wifi), BUT this is only possible if your Internet provider allows it. Specifically with Swisscom it is difficult with fibre, but you may have to buy your own SFP+ module and correct configurations without official support from Swisscom - with suppliers such as Init7 you would have a free choice of router, there it would not be a problem. Behind your Swisscom router always works, but then you have double NAT, theoretically not full throughput and minimally more latent. The different gateways can be compared online: https://ui.com/cloud-gateways/compact

I think the former is no. You need an SFP+ transceiver. And it's a bit tricky, firstly you need to know what frequency Swisscom uses in your area, and secondly the company that sells the transceiver directly needs to configure it to Ubiquiti. I did this at fs.com and luckily it worked. And second, I don't know. I asked Init7 and I linked them to the exact model I wanted to buy and they said basically it should work. The best thing to do is ask Swisscom what they use, then go to fs.com with the data and order there, and then you pray.

The UniFi Cloud Gateway UCG-Fibre has SFP+ ports that support 10 Gigabit connections. The USW-48-POE Switch has SFP ports that support 1 Gigabit connections as standard, and some models also have SFP+ ports for 10 Gigabit connections. A direct connection from an SFP+ port (10 Gbit/s) of the UCG-Fibre to an SFP port (1 Gbit/s) of the USW-48-POE is not technically compatible, as SFP+ and SFP use different speeds and modules. For a connection via SFP/SFP+ ports, both devices must have either SFP+ ports or compatible modules with the same speed. If the USW-48-POE only has SFP ports (1 Gbit/s), you cannot connect the SFP+ port of the UCG-Fibre directly to an SFP port of the switch. However, if the switch has SFP+ ports, these can be connected directly. Summarised: SFP+ to SFP (10 Gbit/s to 1 Gbit/s) is not compatible. For a connection, both sides must have SFP+ ports or compatible modules with the same speed.
