The Toshiba Canvio Flex hard drive uses Shingled Magnetic Recording (SMR) technology. This technology is used in the newer models of the Canvio series to achieve higher storage capacities.

Yes, the Toshiba Canvio Flex (4 TB) can be used for automatic file history in Windows 11. - The hard drive is pre-formatted with the exFAT file system, which makes it compatible with Windows 11. - There are no specific restrictions that would prevent its use for file history in Windows 11. - However, it should be ensured that the hard drive offers sufficient storage space for the desired backups. However, it should be noted that reformatting may be required for certain specific backup functions such as Apple Time Machine, but this is not usually necessary for Windows backups.

So according to a Youtube video, these are soldered USB ports, the disks are not SATA and you can't "cannibalise" them. I therefore recommend the Seagate Portable Backup Plus solutions. You can rip open the case and inside is a nice Seagate Barracuda 2.5 inch hard drive with a real SATA connection. Don't throw away the USB 3 to SATA board, because you can use it for a quick connection of any other 2.5 inch SATA drive.

Digitec's guarantee is always 2 years. This means that you can return the device to us within these 2 years. You still have a 3-year guarantee from the manufacturer. So if you have a warranty claim in the third year, you can send the device directly to the manufacturer.
