The gearstick has 8 positions. 1 reverse gear and 7 gears. It should also be possible to adjust the gears in most racing games. E.g. from top left R, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, (7) or also R, -, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, R or however else you could arrange it.
The Thrustmaster TH8A shifter is not explicitly listed as compatible with Forza Horizon 5 on PS5. The TH8A is generally compatible with PS5 games like DiRT 5 and WRC 9, but specific compatibility with Forza Horizon 5 is not mentioned in the available information. Forza Horizon 5 is a game typically associated with Xbox platforms, and its availability on PS5 is not standard. Therefore, it's unlikely that the TH8A would be specifically supported for this game on PS5.
On consoles, the device must be connected directly to a compatible Thrustmaster steering wheel. On a PC, on the other hand, the connection only works via USB.

If this is the cable you need, I have one and can send it to you free of charge, you just pay the postage.
Yes, you can. On the outside of the housing is an adjustment screw for the switching resistance (slotted screwdriver). Also explained in the manual. Page 9/18.
The TH8A circuit is connected directly to the PC/console via USB, independent of any other controllers. Therefore, there are no problems and is compatible with all steering wheels.
The Thrustmaster TH8A circuit product works on the PlayStation 4 in the following way:
- Connectivity: You can connect the TH8A shifter either directly to the PS4 via a USB port or to the back of a compatible Thrustmaster steering wheel via a DIN connector.
- Compatible steering wheels: The TH8A is compatible with the Thrustmaster T150 Force Feedback, T300 Series and T-GT steering wheels. It can be connected via USB or DIN connectors.
- Switch plates: The TH8A supports two different shift plates: "H" pattern (7+1) and sequential (+/-). Both plates can be used depending on the game and steering wheel.
- Game compatibility: The TH8A is compatible with a wide range of PS4 games, including titles such as Assetto Corsa, Dirt Rally, and Driveclub. A full list of compatible games can be found on the Thrustmaster support website.
- Important notes: It is recommended to connect the TH8A directly to the PS4 and not via a USB hub. In addition, the latest updates for the TH8A should be installed to ensure correct function.
The Thrustmaster TH8A manual gearbox is not explicitly listed in the official compatibility lists for the game "Need for Speed Heat". The compatibility lists on the Thrustmaster website mention various racing games, but "Need for Speed Heat" is not mentioned.
However, it is possible that the game could work with many racing games that support multi-USB and shifters due to the general compatibility of the TH8A gearbox. However, there is no official confirmation from the manufacturer for this specific compatibility.
It depends on which system you use.
PC: No problem, because connected via USB anyway.
Consoles: Connection type (and usable features?) depends on the console. The shifter comes with a round Din connector and a USB adapter cable.
You would also need to clarify whether you can use all of the Shifter's functions. This would also depend on the game, especially on the console. See here: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/3275212/Thrustmaster-Th8s-Shifter-Add-On.html?page=19#manual
For the combination of T128 and console, I would tend towards the TH8S. This shifter is even shown in the manual together with the T128. See here: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1245187/Thrustmaster-Th8a.html?page=16#manual
To connect the TH8A shifter correctly, you should observe the following:
- For use on a PC, we recommend connecting the TH8A Shifter directly to a USB port on the PC using the DIN/USB cable. This ensures optimum operation in both switching modes (manual and sequential switching).
- When used with game consoles (Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5), the TH8A Shifter should be connected to the racing steering wheel base via the detachable mini-DIN/DIN cable, provided the racing steering wheel base has a corresponding connection.
It is important not to use a USB hub or USB extension to ensure a stable and optimal connection.
Hey quick question. I already have the Thrustmaster T248 steering wheel including pedals and clutch and am currently playing with it on the Xbox series x and would like to buy the Thrustmaster TH8A gearstick to go with it, but I keep having problems with forza not recognising my clutch and sometimes it does. So the question is, can I buy the gearstick without any problems or do I have to worry that my console doesn't recognise the clutch or the gearstick?
Thanks in advance for any helpful answers and kind regards :)
