From what i know recertified means, it has been tested and the smart counter has been reset. I'd contact customer support directly regarding further questions, especially if the warranty is in order. I can't answer that question. I use the hard drive in a removable hard drive frame in my "no name" PC (assembled by myself) as a backup HDD. I regularly store my operating system (on SSD) on it as a Windows backup including a system image. This works for me without any problems
