People write here that the HDD is fast and that it can manage 260MB read/write. I had a look at what my old G-Drive can do and measured a speed of 469MB/s for writing and 851MB/s for reading. I'm a user and don't know much about technology, but am I on the wrong track? My drive is from 2019 and faster than a new one?

I've just tested with mine, attached to a Mac with latest version of Mac OS and it gives me 260MB/s for, both, writing and reading. I've tested with the default settings (block size, etc.) for BlackMagic Disk Speed Test.

Can I use it for Mac and Windows at the same time? In other words, if I am employed on a Mac and have other videos on a Windows PC, can I also save them or does this hard disc only compromise with one system?

It is not a NAS, so one PC connectivity at a time. You need to format it with compatible for both Mac and Win if you want to share content just like any other external disk (eg. USB hard disks).
